What type of bike do I need for the adventure race?
If you are competing in the Rás na Ríochta and Rás na Ríochta Sport categories you will need a mountain bike as race course would consist of extensive off road mountain biking along sections of the Kerry Way which is a also a walking track, the terrain is a mix of mud/grass and rock. The Sport version is more suited to novice adventure racers and again is along the different sections of Kerry way. However there is a steep accent towards the windy gap and then the decent about 200 meters over rough rocks where people may choose to push their bikes depending on their confidence levels.

If you are competing in the Road category you need a racer or good road bike the road surface is good.
